Teacher Time Savers: Stations

At Istation, we recognize that no resource is more valuable to a teacher — nor as hard to find! — as time.

There are several key components to Istation that make it a valuable time-saving tool:

1. Formative assessments allow precise measurements and seamless placement for every student. Given automatically each month (or more often if desired), these assessments show true growth over time for each user.
2. With Istation’s adaptive curriculum, students are given purposeful instruction with interactive lessons that are explicit and direct.
3. In addition to computer-driven lessons, teachers have access to a digital library of lesson plans and interactive teaching tools. The Priority report alerts teachers of struggling students and recommends lessons for them.
4. Istation equips teachers with immediate online reports to help manage personalized data profiles.
5. Additional support comes through the Istation school and home connection.

Last week, we discussed resources teachers could use to add greater instructional value to morning work while also saving themselves time. This week, we’re highlighting resources that can save time during stations and center time.

Pre-K to 2nd Grade

• Students can play Bananagrams, Appletters, or Pairsinpears. Students who use a word or words from the Cycle Skill Words list earn bonus points!
• Students can read an Istation book and draw a question from a book jar to answer with a partner.
• Students can select a book and a pom-pom question to answer with a partner.
• Students can play the Word Masters spelling game found in Istation’s Teacher Resources.
• Students can play the Word Masters spelling game found in Istation’s Teacher Resources.

3rd Grade to 5th Grade

• Students can compare fractions using models.
• Students can use dice or playing cards in this multiplication practice game.
• Student can play this factor game for multiplication practice.

Middle to High School

• Students can use this mnemonic chart to learn the meaning of a word in a fun new way.
• Students can read any nonfiction passage and complete this reading response choice board.
