Communicating with Families
Family engagement can enhance student success in the classroom. Helping families understand Istation’s Indicators of Progress (ISIP) and encouraging them to talk with their child about strengths or areas for growth support a growth mindset and student success.
What is ISIP?
Istation’s Indicators of Progress (ISIP) is an online assessment that will help teachers determine your child’s strengths and areas for growth, personalize their learning, and monitor their progress throughout the school year. ISIP allows teachers to meet your child where they are and provides data to inform instruction.
ISIP is a computer-adaptive assessment that adjusts questions based on student responses. The purpose is not to give your child a score or grade but to determine how to best support their learning.
Students have different areas of strengths and opportunities for growth, and it is important to for the teacher to understand how your child performs in specific learning areas, or skills/domains. This helps teachers know which skills to build and where to focus their support.

Understanding My Child's Data
Istation Data
The ISIP assessment will provide results that help the teacher identify your child’s strengths and determine the next steps for instruction. Your child’s teacher will be sharing these results with you throughout the year and providing a learning experience that will engage your child while teaching essential skills and concepts.
The teacher will share a report with you called the Student Summary Handout. The report will summarize your child’s ISIP results and help you monitor their progress throughout the year.
Understanding Istation's Data
Istation reports allow you to watch your child’s progress by summarizing his or her growth throughout the school year.
Ability Index/Score - Ability scores show how your child performed on the ISIP™ assessment. Like measuring a child’s height with a ruler, the ability score measures a student’s growth over time. As your child’s ability improves, the ability score increases in number.
Percentile Rank - identifies the child's results as compared to other students around the nation who took the assessment within the same month.Levels
