What You Need to Know

New Mexico’s K–2 Literacy Screening Requirement

Schedule a Demo

Districts are required to screen all K–2 students with a state-approved screener.

Universal Screening

New Mexico requires all K–2 students to be screened three times a year for signs of reading difficulties.

State-Approved Screener

Amira is one of only two approved English and Spanish screeners—and the only screener that extends to K–8.

State-Funded Access

Amira is fully funded by the New Mexico Public Education Department and available at no cost to districts.

For data use purposes, PED’s Research, Evaluation and Accountability Bureau applies the following business rules for multiple attempts during BOY (Beginning of the year), MOY (Middle of the year), and EOY (End of the year) testing windows.

BOY - first proficiency level (regardless of language)

MOY/EOY - highest proficiency level (regardless of language)

Amira Learning Device Requirements
Amira requires devices with at least 4GB of RAM (or 3GB LPDDR4 for iPads) and the current operating system or up to two versions back.
